evern Trent visited school today and delivered an interactive assembly teaching KS2 children all about water, waste and the environment. We talked about our wonderful water, clever sewer system and how we can all help protect the environment!
We discovered how Severn Trent clean our water and the items we are allowed to flush down the loo, the 3 items are toilet paper, pee and poo!
We also found out that wipes, nappies and oils CANNOT be put down the kitchen sink as they cause blockages in the pipes. This means our dirty water cannot travel down the pipes to be cleaned and reused. Water is precious!
We hope you all had a fantastic time celebrating the King's coronation over the weekend - we had a fantastic time on Friday celebrating at school!
Our wonderful Parent Council have put together this fabulous Outdoor Library for the children to use during their playtimes and lunchtimes it is safe to say … the children love it! They have loved using it already … especially in the sun!
Thank you Parent Council!
📚 We have loved celebrating World Book Day today! We have seen so many amazing costumes and it has been fantastic to see the children guessing who their friends were dressed as! We have been sharing books and a love of reading throughout school today, we hope everyone enjoyed themselves. Here is a selection of photos from today’s event!
Over the past two days we have been celebrating Safer Internet Day! In our classes and assemblies we have been discussing this year’s theme of ‘Talking About It’. We have completed a variety of activities from playing games to creating posters to talk about the things we love about the internet and how we can stay safe online. We want the children of Peterbrook to enjoy their experience when going online and know to talk to someone when things online upset them. Online safety is an important skill that will have an impact on your child throughout their life. At school we remind children throughout their computing topics about how to stay safe online and who they can talk too. This week is Children's Mental health Week. At Peterbrook, we do a lot to help the children manage their mental health. We have introduced communication boxes in each classroom to allow children to have an additional way of communicating with their teacher and we teach the children strategies to help them when they are stressed or anxious such as the chime bar and deep breaths. We try and include an assembly on mental health each term and on Monday, Mrs Burke delivered an assembly to introduce Children's Mental health week. Please have a look at the poster with lots of self care ideas. If you need further support for your child, please look on the NHS website which has lots more ideas as well as places you can go for help. On Friday 2nd of December Christmas arrived at Peterbrook! Our long standing Peterbrook tradition of a community Christmas Fayre was amazing. We had crafts of every description, piping hot chocolates, Y6 games, raffles, tombolas, hot-dogs, pulled pork baps, fairground rides, jungle gym, mince pies, candy canes, gigantic lollipops and of course a visit from Father Christmas and his very helpful elves.
Thank you to all the families that joined us your support and smiles are so very much appreciated. Thank you PTFA, you work tireless behind the scenes to create such amazing memories for our pupils and local community.
