Welcome to the Autumn Term
Hi everyone and welcome to the second part of our very busy autumn term. This page will display general information and specific dates of events that you will need to know. Any photos and/or videos will appear on the school's facebook page, with a few appearing here too.
Important events and dates
Year 3/4 combined will sing carols and songs in the junior hall accompanied with mince pies, hot drinks and festive cheer on Tuesday 12th December at 9:00am. The children are practising 8 songs and some readings for your entertainment. We hope they will wow you with their performance in the junior hall.
Assessment week starts Monday 4th December. During this trying time, children will undertake three mathematics tests. Pupils will also take part in a comprehension activity where they will read three separate texts consisting of both fiction and non-fiction texts. Spelling of the year 3 common exception words will also be tested. Finally, they will complete a grammar test which also includes 20 words to spell.
Homework is sent home every Thursday and due in on a Tuesday. Children will receive maths, English and Spellings. The children will be tested on the words from the spellings homework, each Tuesday.
PE clothes are worn on Monday and Tuesday to school. They will need to wear blue shorts/joggers, a white t-shirt and a blue hoodie/ jumper in line with the school uniform policy.
Reading at school and in the home is important and I recommend that your child has access to a book that they enjoy reading. Having the opportunity to talk about a text and practise finding information and using evidence in the text to support their answers is something which will go a long way in developing your child's comprehension skills. If you need more guidance with this, please come and see me, I am happy to help.
