Our Visit to St. James' Church in Shirley
Today, we had an exciting trip to church, learning all about Christmas. We saw cuddly lambs being looked after by shepherds, and heard about their part in the Christmas story. We saw Wise Men travelling from afar to see the star over the manger where Jesus was born. We made star decorations of our own to put up at home. In a small room at the front of the church, we talked about what people do at Christmas now and how it's celebrated in many of our own homes. We all gathered together to see Mary and Joseph with their baby, Jesus, as the Wise Men and Shepherds visited them in the stable. Finally, we sang 'Starry Night' to everyone to finish off a lovely afternoon.
Welcome to Squirrels Class
As we near the end of the first half term in Year One, we'd like to share some art work with you.
The children had fun painting their self-portraits - can you spot who's who?
We have also been studying warm and cold colours. We finger painted autumn trees to show the warm colours in nature.
