We have had such a lovely day celebrating Christmas and surviving our first term in Year 1. We are so proud of the children for how they have coped and adapted to KS1 and our new normal!
Thank you so much for the lovely gifts you have given to us - it is never expected but is very much appreciated!
Have a wonderful Christmas, however you choose to spend it. Remember there is no homework for the holidays. Let your children relax and have fun - they totally deserve it!
We look forward to seeing you in the New Year! Onwards and upwards for 2021!
Well children, we did it! We all survived our first half term in Year 1!
Both Mrs Butler and I are so proud of how well you have coped and at how hard you are working!
We have had great fun learning about traditional tales in English and have created lots of new versions of stories such as: The Enormous Turnip, Jack and the Beanstalk, The Three Little Pigs and Little Red Riding Hood! Writing is something that you definitely find tricky and we will need to work hard on using finger spaces, capital letters and full stops as well as thinking of what we want to write. We will get there 1BE as you are fantastic!
In maths, you have made a great start and are very confident with numbers 1 to 10. We are in the middle of our addition and subtraction topic and we are really getting the hang of adding now! Next half term we will be doing lots of work on subtraction!
We have delved into the past and looked at how our lives are different to before we werer born. It made Mrs Edwards feel very old that none of you were alive duing the London 2012 Olympics!
We finished the half term on a high today with our Halloween celebrations! Youl all looked fantastic and a big thankyou to parents for your efforts and your donations. Well done to Theo for winning the first prize and to Ava for 2nd prize! I think you can see from the photos at the bottom of this message how great everyone looked!
We have sent pencil cases home so that you can replenish any items that have ran out of been lost. Please remember to bring them back after half term!
All that is left for me to say is have a great half term break. The children are exhausted and deserve a break. They are a credit to you at home easy they have adapted to being back at school so well done all of you as well! Please all look after yourselves, both physically and mentally, it is not an easy time at the moment!
See you soon
