Year 2

Friday 29th May

A very good morning to all of our lovely Year Two children, parents and carers!

Wow! What a fabulously sunny week we have had. We hope you have all enjoyed having fun in the sunshine! Next week we will be welcoming back some children to school and the staff have been very busy setting everything up. It is a bit different to what we are used to! To help those children who are returning, Mrs Burke and I shot a very short video showing you some of the things that might  a bit different so as you have an idea of what to expect. I will send out a tweet when it is posted on here and on our Facebook page. We are putting on the home learning for next week. We hope you will enjoy it. Don't forget to send us any pictures of you doing the work as we love hearing of you. Take care and continue to stay safe.

Friday 22nd May

Hi all of Year Two Children and Parents

It's hard to believe that we have done another half term! A very strange one for us all but we are so proud of how you have all been engaging with the activities that we have set for you over the weeks. Because it is half term, we think you deserve a little break so please take some time to have some fun! Of course if you want to carry on with some activities, why not sharpen you times tables skills playing Topmarks 'hit the button'? You might also like to write a diary of what you do during the half term or even write about something that you have enjoyed doing during lockdown.

We will put up work for the first week after half term next Friday (Friday 29th May)

Take care and keep staying safe.

The Year Two Team.

Dear children,

We have received this letter from Arden Lodge Care home in Acocks Green, asking us to write to their residents as they are unable to see their friends or relatives during the Lock down. A letter from you would bring a smile and cheer to someone's day. One resident, Ray, sent us a painting of a rainbow and another sent us an Easter card.

If you would like to take part please write a letter, draw a picture or make a card and send it in to school by royal mail or come along to school and post your item in our postbox (we'll use our Christmas one) by the wooden entrance gates - remember to keep 2m apart if you meet anyone else using our school postbox by Wednesday 20th May.

To keep everyone safe please DO NOT write your home address on anything. Please use the school address and sign the letter with your first name only.

We will collect all the letters, pictures and cards you send to us and send them all together to Arden Lodge.

Hello all of our Year Two parents and Carers. Debbie and Rhianna wanted to let you know about the following resource which might be useful in these difficult times as children are doubtless struggling to make sense of this situation. The link is below:-#

We hope you will find it useful.

Sunday 3rd May

Hi all of Year Two. Just to let you know the work for this coming week is all set up in the home learning folder, folder entitled week 5 (Monday 4th May). We hope you enjoy all the super activities we have in store for you!

Friday 2nd April

Good morning to all of our Year Two children, parents and carers!

We hope you are all keeping safe and well and have enjoyed some of the activities we have set for your home learning over the past couple of weeks. Please continue with this work if you have not already completed it. Following what would have been the Easter break

(Monday 6th April - Friday 17th April) we will be posting weekly tasks to be completed by the children so as parents and carers have a better idea of the work to be completed each week. For the maths, we will signpost you to the appropriate blocks to look at via the White Rose Home Learning link which was posted earlier in the week.

We send our very best wishes to all of you and your families at this difficult time. Stay safe and look after one another.

The Year Two team.

Hello to all of our Year Two children, parents and carers!

We hope you are all staying safe and looking after one another.

We just wanted to signpost you to some additional maths resources which are very easy to use and are from the same scheme which we follow in school (White Rose).

Just use the following link:-

Just follow these four easy steps…

  1. Click on the set of lessons for your child’s year group.
  2. Watch the video (either on your own or with your child).
  3. Find a calm space where your child can work for about 20-30 minutes.
  4. Use the video guidance to support your child as they work through a lesson.

In addition to this you might have already discovered the maths factor created by Carol Vorderman which is currently offering free subscription during this difficult time. The link is as follows:-

Please stay safe and look after each other.

Curriculum Overview - Year Two

In May we will be undertaking SATs with the Year Two children.  Although it is mandatory for us to deliver them, they only form part of the overall teacher assessment. We have attached some past papers for you to have a look at to give you an idea of what they are comprised of.
