The Composition of the Governing Body is set out in a legal document issued by the Local Authority. It sets out that there should be 14 Governors which fall into different categories:-

• The Headteacher
• One Governor elected by staff - The Staff Governor
• Two Parent Governors - resulting from a ballot of parents with children currently at the school
• One Local Authority Governor
• Nine Co-opted Governors - appointed by the Governing Body itself

Each Governor (except the Headteacher) is appointed for a four year term of office in the first instance, but often stays on for a second term.
