Starting School

Our Induction Process

for pupils starting in September 2020

Due to the current situation, sadly we will not be able to offer our normal induction activities, with home visits and 'Stay and Play' sessions.

If your child has been offered a place for September, a member of our Foundation team will be making a welcome call at the beginning of June to explain the 'Virtual' Induction we have planned for your child instead.

We will post something new every week, which will include information for you and activities for your child, as we receive government advice.

In the meantime we hope you all keep safe and well

and we look forward to seeing you soon.

Starting school is an important stage in your child’s life, whether it is Nursery or Reception. Here at Peterbrook School, we believe that through working in close partnership with parents, we are able to make it a positive and pleasurable experience for both you and your child.

The induction process helps us to foster a working partnership with yourselves and provides your child with a period of familiarisation with the staff and peers. We would encourage you to become as involved as possible with our planned activities even if your child already attends the school.

Parent Information Evening 2020

  June 2020

Main School Hall

Once we have received information about the places offered we will send out the invites for the Parent Information Evening. This is an important meeting where we share information about starting school and we would encourage all parents whose children we be starting Nursery or Reception in 2020 to attend.

Please bring your child's birth certificate along to the meeting, so that we can verify your child's name and date of birth.

We look forward to meeting you.

'Welcome to Nursery' Workshop 2020

Nursery - September 2020

The 'Welcome to Nursery' workshop enables parents to come together for an informal session and share their feelings and concerns about their child starting school.

Starting at Peterbrook Primary School

September 2020

At Peterbrook Primary School we have a staggered intake in both Nursery and Reception. Staff are able to support individual pupils with the transition into the school environment and to establish important routines. It also enables the children to feel safe and secure in their new environment.

Reception Pupils

Pupils who turn 5 years during the academic year September 2020 - August 2021

Only pupils who are new to school attend for the first few days at the beginning of term. This enables the staff to support them in smaller groups and allows the children time to become familiar with the new environment. They are allocated a class, where we feel they will be most suited. All pupils will be full time within one week.

Nursery Pupils

Pupils who turn 4 years during the academic year September 2020 - August 2021

The pupils attend the first few sessions in smaller groups to enable the staff to support them in smaller groups and allows the children to become familiar with the new environment. All pupils will be attending normal sessions within one week.
