The winner of our summer term charity vote was Armed Forces Day which fitted beautifully with the end of our Creative Arts Week on the theme of 'Heroes'. Our children were invited to come dressed as heroes - super or real - armed force personnel – army, navy or air force; follow the colours of our Union Jack by wearing red, white or blue or show their support for the many youth groups by wearing their beaver, cub, scout, rainbow, brownies, guides or sea cadet uniform. We planned a picnic and continued the creative theme as we all made a parachute to take home.
In typical British style, the weather was not our friend as the sky was an angry grey and rain showers were forecast but I'm pleased to say we all made the best of the situation with some classes diverting to an indoor picnic, some flying their parachutes outside and some having an outdoor picnic but close to the classroom door.
We all had a great week. Thank you to the PTFA for our ice pops!
