At Peterbrook, we aim to ensure that every child receives a broad and balanced curriculum which takes in to account each child’s unique and individual needs and ability. We aim to promote the cultural, physical and mental development of our pupils, in order that every child can enjoy and be enthusiastic about the learning of a wide range of subjects, develop an enquiring mind and personal attributes which will help them throughout teenage and adult years. Additionally, we strive to ensure our pupils gain a sense of their own nationality and an appreciation and tolerance of the diverse cultures which exist in society. Our curriculum has been designed to take in to account children’s prior learning and build upon this. We also aim to provide, where it is possible, first hand learning experiences, to allow the children to develop interpersonal skills, build resilience and for them to be creative, critical thinkers. We believe that childhood should be a happy, investigative and enquiring time in life where there are no limits to curiosity and enquiry and there is a thirst for new experiences and knowledge. Through our curriculum we hope that children will develop the knowledge, confidence, skills and understanding necessary to have a deeper understanding of the world around them, to be able to make decisions, self-evaluate, make connections and in so doing, confidently face the world of tomorrow.
