Writing is an important part of a school curriculum and is also a life skill which we feel is imperative and we will therefore make it a priority to provide all learners with an enriching writing curriculum. We recognise that there are barriers to children’s writing and work closely with them in order to allow them to reach their potential as writers. Our curriculum is designed to incorporate texts which are of interest to all pupils in order to enhance their vocabulary range whilst writing. We understand that developing writing is an ongoing process for children which can continually be improved. Therefore, we place great importance on children having opportunities to draft and edit their own work, seeking inspiration from one another whenever possible. We also recognise the need to write about a range of topics, therefore ensuring cross-curricular writing is carried out on a regular basis, allowing children to write about subjects which are of particular interest to them.
