In March 2013 the government announced that it was to provide additional funding of £150 million per annum to improve provision of physical education (PE) and sport in primary schools in England – The Primary PE and Sport Premium.
This funding is allocated to primary school headteachers. The funding is ring-fenced and therefore can only be spent on provision of PE and sport in schools.

We are delighted to announce that we have maintained our PLATINUM award for the School Games Awards. Our focus on Active 60mins through many added initiatives has increased activity levels for all. These have been achieved through extra PE sessions, increased participation levels within our wide range of sports clubs clubs and through OPAL (Outdoor Play and Learning). We have used a range of insight and pupil voice to ensure we are meeting the needs of our young people and we have been praised for our child centred approach.
PE is led in our school by a strong, experienced PE lead, valued by staff and supported by Senior Leaders. Congratulations to Mr Hughes (PE Leader) and the Play Team (OPAL) at Peterbrook!
