Our Induction Process
Starting school is an important stage in your child’s life, whether it is Nursery or Reception. Here at Peterbrook School, we believe that through working in close partnership with parents, we are able to make it a positive and pleasurable experience for both you and your child.
The induction process helps us to foster a working partnership with yourselves and provides your child with a period of familiarisation with the staff and peers. We would encourage you to become as involved as possible with our planned activities even if your child already attends the school.
Parent Information Evening 2017

Once we have received information about the places offered we will send out the invites for the Parent Information Evening. This is an important meeting where we share information about starting school and we would encourage all parents whose children we be starting Nursery or Reception in 2017 to attend.
Please bring your child's birth certificate along to the meeting to verify your child's name and date of birth.
We look forward to meeting you.
Home Visits 2017
For pupils who are new to school only
Reception - July 2017
Nursery - September 2017
Reception teachers will arrange to visit all new children and their parents at home during July.
Nursery Staff will arrange home visits for all children in September.
'Welcome to Nursery' Workshop 2017
Nursery - September 2017
The 'Welcome to Nursery' workshop enables parents to come together for an informal session and share their feelings and concerns about their child starting school.
Starting at Peterbrook Primary School
At Peterbrook Primary School we have a staggered intake in both Nursery and Reception. Staff are able to support individual pupils with the transition into the school environment and to establish important routines. It also enables the children to feel safe and secure in their new environment.
Pupils who turn 5 years during the academic year September 2017 - August 2018
Only pupils who are new to school attend for the first few days at the beginning of term. This enables the staff to support them in smaller groups and allows the children time to become familiar with the new environment. They are allocated a class, where we feel they will be most suited. All pupils are full time within one week.
Pupils who turn 4 years during the academic year September 2017 - August 2018
The induction process takes a little longer in Nursery due to the number of home visits in September. All pupils will be full time within two weeks.
