Maths

L/O: Addition & Subtraction S/C: Estimating and Approximating Homework: Complete the homework sheet provided below.

Go through examples of estimating, linking to rounding skills. Children to then complete reasoning and problem solving work.

English

Success Criteria: To be able to make comparisons within and across books.

Discuss and write notes and a short comparison about fairy tales and then about two characters within a text. This week we are beginning to read Emeka the Pathfinder.

Homework: Complete the homework sheet provided.

Spellings

Test on words from last week. These are the words ending with the ‘dis’ prefix.

Please see new spellings sheet below for the new spellings to be learnt.

Time Tables

Test on 4 times tables.

Learn the 3 & 4 times tables for a test next week. Use www.ttrockstars.com to practise as much as possible.

PE

Coordination: Ball Skills. Practise moving the ball around your body and a figure 8 around your legs. Keep the ball moving and away from your body. Keep your head up, looking forward. Concentrate on performing the movements smoothly to begin with and then gradually increase their speed. Success = Able to work the ball in both directions, smooth movements with the ball & fluidity when changing hands.

L/O: Addition & Subtraction S/C: Using inverse operations to check calculations.

Introduce inverse operations and how they are the opposites. Children to use these skills to answer the questions from the sheets.

English

Success Criteria: To use brackets, dashes or commas to indicate parenthesis.

See worksheet attached to recap knowledge about parenthesis.

L/O: Addition & Subtraction S/C: Using inverse operations to solve puzzles and problems

Children to continue with inverse operations. They should complete the sheet below when they are confident.

English

Success Criteria: To participate in discussions, presentations, performances, role play, improvisations and debates.

Dictation (parents to read a short paragraph, child to write it down attempting to include accurate punctuation and spelling).

Role play/discuss the characters from a book and make inferences about their character.

Music

Begin work from Charanga Music scheme based on rock music with a key focus on Bon Jovi’s Livin’ on a prayer

PSHE

Choose one of the following to complete:

• Design a leaflet for parents/carers to explain the new Learning Charter

• Make a classroom display illustrating the Learning Charter

• Design rewards, e.g. stickers, certificates, postcards for home

• Write the lyrics for a school song or anthem

L/O: Addition & Subtraction S/C: Using addition and Subtraction to solve multi-step problems.

Refresh understanding of the RUCSAC method of puzzles and problems. Children to answer questions from sheets below.

Arithmetic: Please complete the Orange Arithmetic Test below.

English

Success Criteria: To use expanded noun phrases to convey complicated information concisely.
To use relative clauses beginning with who, which, where, when, whose, that or with an implied (i.e. omitted) relative pronoun.

Make a list of alternative noun phrases (Expanded noun phrases would be great) involving body parts that could be used to convey the atmosphere of evil (e.g teeth, lips, face) to describe an evil character from a book. Even better if you could create sentences using relative clauses.

Complete a few examples of expanded noun phrases to describe the characters, included relative clauses to extend your writing. Then write three sentences that include parenthesis.
