Ruwanwella Maha Vidyalaya School,
Lying off the southern tip of India, the tropical island of Sri Lanka has attracted visitors for centuries with its natural beauty. The famous explorer Marco Polo of the 12th Century wrote that Sri Lanka was the finest island in the whole world. For centuries it has been a great tourism destination particularly for European travellers. Since 2006, the village of Udamulla has been important to our school as we have funded the full-time education of two young children, Hiruni Sashikala and Ravindu Jayaweera. We shall continue to do so until the children are 16 years-old in 2015. Our School Council and Key Stage 1 pupils are responsible for our school’s fund-raising events for Sri Lanka each year and are in contact with Ruwanwella Maha Vidyalaya School. Pupils from both schools exchange cards, letters and paintings each year.
