L/O: Fractions S/C: Adding and Subtracting fractions
Refresh work from the previous lessons on adding and subtracting fractions with different denominators. Go through some more examples on the board for the children to practise on their whiteboards. They must remember to find a common denominator before adding and subtracting the fractions together.
Explain the tasks to the class (Code breakers and Defuse the bomb activities)
Children will complete activities. Make sure that children solve a question and then do an exercise of their choice for 30 seconds. They can then solve the next question and they carry on like this until all questions are solved for the activity.
Success Criteria: I can draw inferences such as inferring characters’ feelings, thoughts and motives from their actions, and justifying inferences with evidence.
Starter: generate noun phrases to describe the world through the wardrobe.
Read ch. 3 of LWW. Explore the reaction of Lucy’s brothers and sister to her visit to Narnia. Why did they find it difficult to believe her? Explore the time relationships between being in the house and in the world of Narnia (time stands still). Explore other aspects of the characters of Lucy and Edmund that are revealed in the chapter and add to working wall.
What have we learned about the White Queen so far (appearance, personality etc)? Pupils write a short character sketch of the White Queen using evidence from the text.
