David Hill – Paralympic Triathlete / School Games Day!
The children of Peterbrook School were lucky enough to have a special visit from a Great British sporting superstar last week! David Hill has represented Great Britain in World Championships and is working hard to star in the Paralympics 2016 in Rio, Brazil, competing in the Triathlon.
Throughout the morning, the children came down to the sports hall to take part in a tough circuit of sporting challenges and worked extremely hard to complete all the phases of the circuit (Spotty Dogs, Leg Climbers, Press Ups and Star Jumps). This was great to see all children taking part, working their socks off to succeed in each event!
After all the children had completed the circuit, we were all invited back to the hall for an inspirational assembly with David Hill, who talked about how he got into sport and how hard he worked to be as successful as he is today. This was great for the children and they even got to ask David some questions, with some of the children getting prizes for their well thought of questions!
We had a great morning of sporting activities and a lot of children have even been able to collect sponsorship money in for completing the morning challenge!
That wasn't the end of our sports for the day though....
We carried on with our Sporty Day with our School Games Day, where all classes were invited to select activties/sports and to take part in during the afternoon. There were many creative ideas with some great games of blind football penalties and basketball throws, as well as many mini inter house competitions across the field and playground.
Well done to all that enjoyed the day and were inspired by David Hill to take part in our amazingly fun School Games Day!
