We have been having cricket coaching sessions over the last 6 weeks in our PE lessons and to finish off the unit of work, we all took part in a cricket festival against other schools from the local area.
We have really been enjoying our cricket and the festival was a fantastic day out for all of us. Every child had the opportunity to bat, bowl and field in at least 3 games for their teams.
It was great to see all the children taking part, enjoying the game and having a brilliant day with their friends; all the children represented our school amazingly and were a real credit to us all.
To top off an already fantastic day, one of our teams won the whole festival by winning the grand final game against a team from Sharmans Cross school. Wow!
We had a fantastic time visiting the church last week. We were taught the Easter story through a variety of group activities and through a performance by members of the church. It really was an invaluable experience, where we listened to many stories, made our own paper crosses and shared bread and 'wine' (Don't worry, it was only the start of wine... grapes )
A really amazing afternoon!
We've been working hard for a few weeks on our computer programming skills. We have been using the Kodu programme to work hard on creating landscapes and characters; we've programmed these characters to perform a wide range of instructions. We've also been making games, creating race tracks and all having great fun playing each others games. Our computing and ICT skills are improving a huge amount with our new skills
We had a fantastic time working with Dr Watson on forces for a whole morning here in school. We learnt about a variety of forces and took part in many different investigations and experiments; they were fantastic and the children loved them all, especially riding on the hoverboard! What a great day! Thanks to Mrs Harris for organising this for us!
We all had an amazing day on World Book Day this year. Well, we actually had an amazing world book week, taking part in fun activities every day of the week!
We also dressed up on Friday 4th March as our favourite book characters and brought in a book to share with others! It was fantastic!
Green Day was a fantastic day for us all, where we learnt how to reduce waste in our homes and within the local environment. It was a brilliant learning experience, which the children thoroughly enjoyed!
It's been a really great Autumn term so far for us in Year 5. We've been pretty much 'back to normal' here at Peterbrook and it's been fantastic to see the children all settled back into school routines and making some really pleasing progress across all subject areas.
We've covered many fundamental areas in our Maths lessons, we've been creating some wonderfully written quest stories, diary entries and newspaper reports in English, we've learnt all about space and forces in Science and have studied the Vikings in our History lessons. These are just a few of the amazing things we have been doing.
5H have also been swimming, all children have been increasing their understanding in French lessons and we've all been having a great time at the end of the week in Maths lessons within our fun Maths Friday games and activities.
It's been a super half term; we've enjoyed Halloween and Bonfire Night and now we all look forward to the build up to Christmas. There will be a Vikings visit from Professor McGinty, lots of fun and engaging lessons, along with the excitement of Christmas activities and events in a few weeks time
We've had a fantastic start to the year across year 5, with lots of new and exciting things being taught and enjoyed in school.
We've all been working hard on our Place Value in Maths lessons and we've been reading and writing about Quest stories, adding lots of detail and description, including adverbials, noun phrases and similes in our English lessons.
We have also started two new, amazing new topics of The Vikings in History and Space in Science, which the children are thoroughly enjoying and learning many new things.
The children have all settled in to our new routines and have been working extremely hard within all of their lessons, showing excellent behaviour. Keep it up!
