5H & 5S Information & Photos

Week ending Friday 25th October 2019

So... here we find ourselves at the end of a very busy half term. We have had brilliant time so far this year and the children have all been working extremely hard to thrive in all lessons.

So far:

  • We've covered place value, addition, subtraction and statistics in Maths.
  • We've drafted, edited and written our own Quest stories, focusing on parenthesis, similes, adverbials of time and place and relative clasues.
  • We've developed our understanding of Space, through lots of research and investigations.
  • We've furthered our knowledge of the Vikings, through research and fun activities.
  • 5H have been to weekly swimming lessons.
  • We've created some amazing space themed art work.

It's really been a fantastic first half term and the children really deserve a break. Have an amazing week off and come back ready to go on November 4th. (Remember your swimming kits/PE kits when we come back!)

Also, please make sure to read over the week off and to of course continue learning the spellings that have been handed out this week.

Have a great week everyone!

Week ending Friday 20th September 2019

We've had a fantastic start to the year across year 5, with lots of new and exciting things being taught and enjoyed in school.

We've all been working hard on our Place Value in Maths lessons and we've been reading and writing about Quest stories, adding lots of detail and description, including adverbials, noun phrases and similes in our English lessons.

We have also started two new, amazing new topics of The Vikings in History and Space in Science, which the children are thoroughly enjoying and learning many new things.

The children have all settled in to our new routines and have been working extremely hard within all of their lessons, showing excellent behaviour. Keep it up!

A few reminders:

  • Swimming Kit is needed for 5H every Monday
  • PE kit is needed every Monday and Thursday
  • Art aprons/old shirts should be kept in school on your child's peg
  • Spellings folders are needed every Monday
  • Homework is given out on a Monday and is due back in before Thursday
  • Reading should be completed at home at least 4 times per week, but ideally children are encouraged to read daily.

If you have any questions, please come and see us both before school between 8:45am and 8:55am.
