This half term we started our new topic on ‘The United Kingdom’. We have really enjoyed this geography themed topic and particularly enjoyed our walk around our local area trying to spot human and physical features (once again thank you to the parents that came along with us!).
In English we have been focusing on poetry where we have been learning how different poems are set out and about some of the features of poetry.
We have been very busy with maths this half term; we have been continuing our work on multiplication and division where we have looked at the column method for multiplication. We then moved onto money and statistics.
Well done for all of your hard work this half term! I hope you have a lovely break and I’ll see you all when you return!
This past term has been very busy! I am extremely proud of how hard the children have worked and they all deserve a well-earned break!
We have finished our units on 'fractured stories' and 'All About Bears', we have been focusing on fronted adverbials, direct speech and expanded noun phrases. In maths we have been learning our times tables - remember in Year 3 children are required to know their 3, 4 and 8 times tables so please keep learning these!
We have been very busy with our science topics this half term, we have been learning all about 'Animals and Skeletons' where we even dissected an owl pellet and found some amazing bones! Our other topic has been 'Rocks' where we have been looking at the suitability of rocks and how rocks are formed.
I hope that you all have a lovely break over Christmas and I will see you all again in the New Year!
What a fantastic start to Year 3 we have had! All the children have started to settle into their new routine and have really impressed me with what we have achieved so far!
In English we have been looking at Fractured Stories, these are Traditional Tales with a twist! So far we have looked at two stories called Cinderboy and The Three Little Wolves. We have really enjoyed reading these and are looking forward to our next story called Jim and the Beanstalk.
In maths we have finished our unit on place value and have moved onto our work on addition and subtraction. We have been looking at three-digit numbers and have been using lots of equipment in order to fully understand this! We have also been looking at using the column method for both addition and subtraction, this has been tricky so keep practicing this at home!
Keep up the hard work 3B!
