Welcome to Peterbrook Primary School!

From the Chair of Governors, Mr. Andrew Westwood
It is a great pleasure to welcome you, on behalf of all staff, governors, parents and children to Peterbrook Primary School’s website. The website is a place where you will find information about the school, its location, events, term dates and current activities, including those of the PTFA.

It provides us with an opportunity to celebrate the success of the school and it is not just for parents. Children visiting the site will find much to interest them on the numerous ‘Kids’ Pages’.

Overall the website is the result of a concerted effort by all at the school to provide as much information as possible to those who visit the site for whatever reason. Regular updates and maintenance keep it topical and our thanks are due to all those who created and continue to maintain the site.

From the Headteacher, Mr. Steve McGaw
On behalf of the pupils, parents, staff and governors, I welcome you to Peterbrook Primary School’s main website. I hope that you will find it enjoyable, interesting and informative. You may also wish to visit our two other school websites which enhance our teaching and learning programmes at school: www.peterbrooktv.com and www.radiopeterbrook.com.

Our principal aim is … ‘to provide an environment where individuals – both children and staff – feel valued through an ethos of caring and encouragement, understanding and appreciation’ …

We endeavour to create and celebrate opportunities for all. Our motto is, “If you believe it, you can achieve it”. By valuing the contribution of all members of our school community we have created a vibrant and dynamic learning environment.

We have well-established international partner school links (since 2002) in China, Sri Lanka, France and Sweden and our pupils enjoy a curriculum which is enhanced and enriched by these teaching and learning opportunities.

As an Investor in People organisation we give the professional development of all staff a high priority, which has a direct and positive impact on our pupil’s learning. We are training partners with the University of Warwick, the University of Worcester and with Solihull College. We are proud of our 'Healthy Schools' status and are a 'Green Flag' ECO status school, a 'Gold' status Youth Sports Trust school and are also a 'Gold Artsmark' status school, as recognised by the Arts Council, for the quality and breadth of arts activities that our pupils engage in to support their learning.

Peterbrook parents are generous with the support they give to their children, as well as the wider school community through the activities of our Parent Council and our thriving PTFA. As active partners in their children’s learning both the Parent Council and the PTFA is fully involved in shaping our school’s direction in terms of provision and resources. Our parents benefit from our popular 'PAWS & GRIZZLIES' Childcare Wraparound provision which is open 49 weeks per year from 7.30am to 6.00pm each day. We also provide a quality programme of pupil and family support and a comprehensive range of parenting activities, run by our school Child and Family Support Worker. In addition we support vulnerable children with specific medical needs with our own Medical Care Assistant and provide early intervention child communication support in Foundation Key Stage with our Speech and Language Therapist.

Our school Governors play a leading role in shaping and guiding our vision, and they are committed to ensuring the very best opportunities for our pupils through their ‘hands on’ involvement. Our Governing Body has a wide range of duties and powers and has a general responsibility for promoting high standards of educational achievement.

Last but never least, it is our pupils who make Peterbrook a special place. We are proud of our pupil’s academic performance and their success and achievements gained through the extensive range of musical, sporting and extra-curricular activities we offer them. Uniquely, links with our four International partners around the world help our children to nurture friendships in the global community.

If you would like to discuss with me any area of interest that you may have in relation to our school and its' future direction, then please feel free to make an appointment at our school office or send me an e-mail.
