St Briavels

Our St Briavels Story...

We have all made it back from our little holiday safe and sound! (Phew!) This is the story of our little trip...

We left school on Wednesday morning and travelled straight to the International Birds of Prey Centre where we got to see the birds of prey and even see some of them fly for us.

We then travelled to the amazing Puzzle Wood where we had a list of things to find hidden in the wood; including dinosaur footprints, a hidden chair, a secret door and even a scary face on a tree!

After this, we got back on to the coach to travel to St Briavels Castle. The children were very excited to unpack and settle into their bedrooms. We had a delicious dinner, found out what Gangsta' Granny was getting up to and then went to bed.... And then to sleep.... eventually :)

On Thursday Morning , after breakfast, we headed to Clearwell Caves. We had a fantastic tour and learned lots about what life working in the mines would have been like. We even got to experience crawling through a small tunnel, like the workers of old would have to.

The Dean Heritage Centre was great and we split into four groups here and got to do four different activities: shelter building in the woods, a nature walk, a sculpture trail featuring a very hungry caterpiller and team building games.

When we got back to the castle, we didn't have long to get ready for our medieval banquet. All the children looked brilliant dressed up in their costumes and we even had a top table made up of a King, Queen, Lady-in-Waiting and a Squire! Well done to Cassius, Amelia S, Ava and Joe B for taking charge and ruling the room with confidence!

Before we knew it, the last day of our trip had arrived.

The day began with a choice of archery or candle making in the castle grounds. This was an amazing experience (even with some slightly scary arrow shots).

After this, we packed up everything from our rooms and then left the castle to travel to our last destination: The Amazing Maze! We had loads of fun meeting the owner of the maze who performed some clever tricks with a Diablo for us to watch and then explained to us how to play a Maze Man's Hat in the Maze. We all had a great time here!

We just had time for lunch after all our maze fun before getting back on to the coach to travel back to school.

All children returned safely and a great trip had by all!
