Looking Forward 2009-2010

School Year 2009-10

A new school dawn on 2009-10

Welcome back to the start of new school year, and a particularly warm welcome to all those children and parents who may be joining us for the first time.

School year 2008-09 was an outstanding one for us in every sense: a superb Creative Arts Week, excellent academic result in all 3 Key Stages, and of course our OfSTED Inspection which described our school as ‘outstanding’ in almost every area. It is very reassuring to know that all the work, time and dedication that our staff have put in has been recognised. The childrens’ attitude towards learning was described as outstanding, as well as the teaching and learning throughout the school. With the support from parents to reinforce through homework, the children are well placed to take every advantage of the opportunities our school has to offer.

Being an outstanding school advertises high expectations for everyone: we expect our teachers to work hard, our children to come to school each day prepared to learn, and our parents to give the school and their children 100% support as we move to develop each child’s full potential.

It is no secret that those children who are the most successful receive the most help and support from their parents, and work together in a very effective home-school partnership that is facilitated through our open-door policy. We look forward to continuing to receive your support so that the children are successful, thrive and fulfil their potential.

It makes me enormously proud to be able to say that Peterbrook is an outstanding school. It gives great satisfaction also to know that with the quality of children, staff and governors we have, there will be continued growth and development that will further enhance the experiences and opportunities we provide for the children. We will not be complacent; we will strive to improve even further.

As we look forward to this coming year there are several things for which I have a special enthusiasm, for example, participation in our wide range of extra-curricular clubs on offer, our ever increasing Performing Arts opportunities, and our planned International Week for Summer 2010. Our 'Learn to Sing' programme, starting this term, is a new venture we are looking forward to especially after our very successful debut last term. Another eagerly anticipated further development is that of our 'Parent Council' – more parents though are needed to help this move forward. Why not browse our website to see how you can help your 'Parent Council' support your children.

With so much to look forward to both in and out of the classroom, school year 2009-10 will be another special one, and I invite you become actively involved, by supporting your children as they enjoy their activities.
