                        Lost 3-2                                                                                                                                                    Won 2-1

Team: Bradley, Jimmi, Ashton, McCoy, Joe, Tom, Jamie & Jake

After coming 2nd in the league, Peterbrook FC were invited to play in the South Solihull Schools finals evening, where the 4 best teams from across South Solihull would play off for the top 4 positions. The other three teams were the much larger schools of Dorridge, Shirley Heath and Monkspath. Peterbrook FC would be up against it, but were definitely ready for the challenge!

The boys in the team played some absolutely fantastic football today and put everything on the line from the first minute to the last minute of both games today. They were very unfortunate losers of the first game against Shirley Heath, where a late goal meant that they won the game 3-2. The boys were excellent in this game though and the result could well have gone the other way.

The final game was against Dorridge and Peterbrook FC  played even better than in the first game and played some majestic football at times. They out battled the opposition and came out victorious with goals from Tom and Jamie.

The team were immense today and finished the season in 3rd Place out of all the teams in South Solihull. Well done to all the boys this season! You all should be incredibly proud of yourselves.

Mr H

Peterbrook FC vs Greswold

Won 2-1

Team: Bradley, Jimmi, Ashton, McCoy, Joe, Tom, Jamie & Jake

Well, this was it... it all came down to the final game of the season! Greswold had just beaten OLW in the game before this and were full of confidence. It meant that the winners of this game would finish in 2nd place in the league. A draw would bring OLW back into contention.

Peterbrook FC had been beaten by Greswold 4-3 in the cup competition and were looking for a victory this time! The game started and it was very close (as everyone expected). Both teams had attacking chances and both teams defended strongly. The game was end to end but apart from a few half chances, the first half finished 0-0.

The second half began and the teams were tiring because they were giving it everything. Peterbrook FC had a throw in and Ashton took a quick throw to Tom, who was urged to shoot from distance from the gaffa (Mr Hughes) and boy did he shoot. It was a half volley off a kind bounce and the ball flew in the air towards the goal. The ball started to come down from a great height and smacked the underside of the bar and bounced down behind the line! 1-0 to Peterbrook FC! What a goal!

Greswold did not let that get to them and continued to press high up the pitch and pushed more attacking players forwards. This left us a little short at the back and chances were starting to come. Their attacker paced forward and whipped in a delicious cross from nowhere to the back post where another player had ventured forward. He had plenty of time and tucked the ball away in the far corner... 1-1 and there was 5 minutes to go....

Both teams knew a victory was what they needed and both teams gave it everything! With two minutes to go, it was Peterbrook's turn to venture forward and with the Greswold defense tiring, Tom went on one of his in and out runs... he went past a couple of players and belted the ball towards goal and.... smack.... it hit the bar and came out! Noooooooo.... but wait.... Jamie was there in the perfect position and controlled the ball and could he do it? Yes, he could... he placed the ball into the far corner for a GOAL! 2-1 to Peterbrook FC!

The boys managed to hold on for hard earned victory and secured themselves at least 2nd place in the league and have earned themselves a place at the football finals evening later on in the year! Well done guys! An excellent football season!

Player of the Match:

Tom: He battled for every ball today and scored a goal and set up the winning goal at very crucial times! A fantastic all round performance! Well played!

Peterbrook FC vs Our Lady of the Wayside (OLW)

Lost 2-0

Team: Bradley, Jimmi, Ashton, McCoy, Joe, Tom, Jamie & Jake

This was a very tough game for both teams, as both teams knew that a victory could move them closer towards those crucial top two positions in the league. Both teams battled hard in the middle and all the players on the pitch were showing great commitment to the game!

Unfortunately, a goal went against Peterbrook after a clearance found the top corner past Bradley. There was nothing anyone could do about it... it just sometimes happens. The game was end to end all the way through and Peterbrook had several decent corners and attacking chances but none came to anything. OLW managed to get themselves another goal  from a corner in the second half and the game finished 2-0. Our defenders and Bradley in goal were tested throughout the game but some fine saves and solid defending kept the game very close until the final whistle!

Player of the Match:

He read the game extremely well at the back and put his body on the line a couple of times to keep the opposition out! A very good defensive performance! Well played!

Peterbrook FC vs Knowle

Won 3-2

Team: Bradley, Jimmi, Ashton, McCoy, Joe, Tom, Jamie & Jake

This was the first game back after the Christmas break and the team only had the chance for a quick training session before this game went ahead. The team were still confident but it did take them a while to find their feet within the game.

Peterbrook FC did start putting pressure on the Knowle defenders and won a corner. McCoy whipped the ball in for Tom to rise like a salmon and head the ball into the goal to make it 1-0. The game was end to end and Knowle had a big midfielder who started to run the game for them. Knowle put our defenders under serious pressure, but some last ditch defending and some fantastic saves onto the post and bar by Bradley kept them out. However,  Knowle probably deserved a goal and did manage to get one before half time and that's how the first half finished. 1-1.

Mr H tried to encourage the team to get more stuck in and this happened straight away and the Peterbrook midfield didn't give the opposition as much time on the ball. Jake, Joe and Ashton were physical with the opposition, not giving them any time or space! We pressed high and were getting some free kicks high up the field. Jimmi took a free kick produced a very dangerous ball into the box where Jamie pounced to volley the ball into the far corner to make it 2-1! What a finish!!! The game became end to end with both teams playing well. Peterbrook FC had more chances to seal the game but Knowle's best player (their defender) managed to get back a number of times to intercept or make fantastic tackles to keep them in the game.

Knowle had some chances too and their striker stepped inside our defenders and hit a brilliant strike into the near post and it was all but in the bottom corner until Bradley's leg flew out to save the ball and it put it out for a corner! Unbelievable save!

With 3 minutes to play, we could tell that the Knowle team were not going to be giving up on this game and the Knowle striker took the ball off our defenders and put the ball into the net for 2-2.

2 minutes to play and Peterbrook get the ball in the middle. Tom ducks and dives past a few tackles and slices the defenders apart with a through ball. Their number 3 (the fast defender) is chasing down Jamie who is through on goal but Jamie keeps his nerve and balance to guide the ball in off the post to make it 3-2 with 1 minute to play!

Peterbrook FC manage to hold on bravely to secure a very hard fought 3-2 victory!

Player of the Match:

What a performance in goal! He has made some world class saves with his hands and feet today that David De Gea would be proud of! He kept us in the game and allowed us to go on and win the game!

A special mention to Jamie too, whose composed last minute finish won us the game!

Peterbrook FC vs St Alphege

Won 4-2

Team: Bradley, Jimmi, Ashton, McCoy, Joe, Tom, Jamie & Jake

This was a fixture, played in ferocious winds and terrible football conditions, however the team were ready to play and worked their socks off throughout. St Alphege had a really strong, well organised team who knew how to string some passes together. We had to be on our best form to beat them.

Some good pressure in the early minutes led to a few chances and Jamie put through Tom one on one with the keeper and he made no mistake to make the score 1-0 to Peterbrook FC. Before the opposition had time to regroup, we piled on the pressure once again and Tom nicked the ball off their defender, took a touch inside and thumped the ball into the far corner to make it 2-0 to Peterbrook FC. The play was starting to come off now, with some lovely work down the wings with McCoy playing Joe in, who was delivering some dangerous balls across the box. Jamie was playing well and was sure to get a chance soon and he did. The ball found its way to McCoy, who slipped a wonderful ball through to Jamie, who gave the keeper the eyes and buried the ball in off the near post. 3-0 to Peterbrook FC at half time.

Jake came on at half time and worked hard up and down the wing. St Alphege came out strongly, with nothing to lose and their number 7 was causing some problems for us at the back. St Alphege managed to get on the score sheet and pulled it back to 3-1. Our defense were being tested now in the windy conditions, however Ashton and Jimmi held firm and made some crunching tackles to keep the opposition out.

Peterbrook FC started to play some good flowing football again now and Jake played a great flick around the corner to Tom, who then slotted the ball through to Jamie, who produced an outstanding finish past the keeper to make it 4-1. St Alphege did manage another goal back but Peterbrook FC held on through some wonderful defending and some solid stops from the keeper, Bradley!

A solid performance in very tricky playing conditions. Well done everyone!

Player of the Match:

Tom: His skills were of a high quality today, scoring two goals and getting an assist. Brilliant performance!

Peterbrook FC vs Monkspath

Lost 4-2

Team: Bradley, Jimmi, Ashton, McCoy, Joe, Tom, Jamie & Jake

This was another game of football played in horrendous playing conditions. The team were absolutely fantastic though!

We worked incredibly hard throughout and Jamie scored a couple of great goals. One was a one on one chance, where he made no mistake and the other was a free kick from Jimmi, which the keeper flapped at, and Jamie was there to confidently slot into the back of the net.

The score was 2-2 at half time and the game was full of chances, crunching tackles and a high commitment from both teams. Unfortunately for us, a couple of dubious decisions went against us; with their first goal and the awarding of a free kick which led to their 3rd goal with three minutes remaining. This was actually a fantastic defending challenge from Jimmi and on another day, these decisions would have gone in our favour.

The team played their socks off and thoroughly deserved something from the fixture. But that's sport; there are times where things will go against you and I have every confidence the team are good enough to bounce back ready for the next game!

Well played everyone!

Player of The Match:

Jamie: He never let his head go down and scored a couple of fantastic goals. Excellent forward play today!

Peterbrook FC vs Coppice

Won 3-0

Team: Bradley, Jimmi, Ashton, McCoy, Joe, Tom, Jamie & Jake

The second league match of the season for Peterbrook FC was a tough fixture against a Coppice team, who had already got a win and a draw in their opening two games of the season.

The players had to be ready for a tough game, so the gaffa (Mr H) put them through their paces with a good warm up of passing and press ups. The team were ready and came flying out of the blocks, led once again by their lead front man, Jamie, who put pressure on every touch of the ball their defenders had.

Peterbrook FC were on top and the pressure was paying off. The passing was fantastic today and this led to chances being created. McCoy ended up getting on the end of a ball in the box and slotted it in for a 1-0 lead to Peterbrook FC. The chances were coming now and an unbelievable one/two between Jamie and Tom led to Jamie through on goal and he made no mistake in front of goal and made it 2-0 to Peterbrook FC. The team didn't let off and a great ball into Jamie's feet from Ashton led to another attack. Jamie held the ball up and played in Joe, who was flying down the wing. He let rip with a rocket of  a shot, which the keeper could only palm out into the path of Tom, who slotted the ball home from close range to make in 3-0 to Peterbrook FC! Half time.

The second half came and the pressure was maintained by Peterbrook FC, with some wonderful passing moves creating more chances. Coppice did come back into the game a bit more, with some good counter attacks. They were held up brilliantly though by our second half defense of Ashton and Jake. They intercepted the ball, did a trick past a player and then played perfect passes to our attacking players to set them on their way. Jimmi had a great second half in the midfield and Bradley was performing excellently in goal. Coppice couldn't really get close to the goal because of the great defending, but they had 3 or 4 thunderous strikes from distance, which Bradley got behind and definitely earned his clean sheet bonus from Mr Lynch this week. The game finished 3-0!

Another fantastic team performance! Well done to all the players!

Player of the Match:

Ashton -  Our attacking play was amazing today, but it wouldn't have been possible without Ashton's amazing interceptions, skill and composure at the back. He worked non-stop all game and thoroughly deserves the player of the match award for today's game! Well played!

Peterbrook FC vs Valley

Won 3-0

Team: Bradley, Jimmi, Ashton, McCoy, Joe, Tom, Jamie & Jake

This was our first league game of the season and it is always a nervous time for the young players of Peterbrook FC. The team looked a little shaky to start off with today and the game was a bit scrappy from both teams. Valley had a decent number 9, who held up the ball well for their team and set them on some dangerous attacks. However, these attacks were halted by our fantastic defense of Ashton and Jimmi. Along with McCoy, they intercepted pretty much everything that came their way and made some super defensive tackles.

Peterbrook FC began to get their passing game going and were pressing high up the pitch, creating some great chances. Joe and Tom were dangerous up the wings and the pressure was sure to pay off!  Or was it? Yes it was! McCoy unleashed a super cross/shot over the defense and Jamie latched on to it with an unbelievable volley to smash the ball past the helpless Valley keeper. 1-0 to Peterbrook! This was a perfectly timed goal, with the half-time whistle blown ten seconds after the goal!

The second half began and Jake came on and battled in the midfield really well. All the team were now warmed up and were getting stuck in to their tackles and winning the first and second balls. But Valley were a threat and created some chances going forward. McCoy blocked a free kick that was heading in on the goal line and Bradley made some secure saves to ensure all the attacks came to nothing. Valley then had an attack and Jimmi put his body on the line to block a shot from their striker. The ball bounced out to Jake who cleared the ball and Peterbrook had the chance of a counter attack. The ball got fired up the right wing to Jamie, who put the ball across beyond the last defender and Tom flew onto it and slotted the ball past the keeper to make it 2-0! Wonderful football!

Valley were still playing really well and put a few passes together but Peterbrook kept pressing high up the pitch and Tom was making some very skillful runs. He got fouled just outside the area and took the free kick himself. The keeper made another outstanding save but unfortunately for him, it came straight back to Tom who fired the ball back into the far corner to make it 3-0 to Peterbrook FC and that's how it finished.

A fantastic team performance today by all the players involved! Well played!

Player of the Match:

Jamie - Scored a fantastic goal to get the team going, held the ball up well, chased down their defenders all game and played a cracking through ball for an assist.

Peterbrook FC vs Greswold

Lost 3-2

Team: Billy G, Jimmi, Jake, McCoy, Joe, Ashton & Tom

This was our first game of the year and was made very difficult by three key squad players being off ill or injured on match day. This obviously can't be helped at all, but it meant that we only had 7 players for our 7 aside game against a squad of 10 players from Greswold.

The game started really well with both teams competing well all over the pitch. Peterbrook FC began to take control with some lovely passing moves, starting at the back with Jimmi, making their way through to McCoy in the middle and feeding great balls wide to the attacking players. The pressure was sure to lead to something and then it did when Tom slotted Joe through on the keeper and he rounded him and calmly put the ball in the back of the net for a 1-0 lead to Peterbrook FC.

The game was then a bit more of a battle and was more end to end. Greswold had a counter attack and with a long shot managed to get a shot on target which was saved well, but the rebound was put in to make it 1-1 just before half time.

The second half began with Peterbrook FC flying and creating chance after chance. The pressure again paid off, with McCoy crossing in a corner and then Ashton firing in from close range to make it 2-1 to Peterbrook FC. Greswold had very few chances and were left to long range shots, which were being saved well by Billy G. Then out of nowhere a long shot was fired in to the far corner giving Billy no chance in goal. 2-2.

It was all Peterbrook for the last 5 minutes of the game and they created chances going forward but last ditch defending by Greswold kept them in the game. Full time 2-2.

The game went to extra time and both teams were tiring, however the lack of substitutes for Peterbrook FC was telling and the team were having to run their socks off. They worked so hard and were in the game until a final one off counter attack led to a corner for Greswold which was scored by their player. The game finished 3-2 to Greswold, but the score does not reflect the hard work and performance by the Peterbrook FC team!

Having only 7 players and playing extra time against a squad of 10 players was a tough ask, but Peterbrook FC were amazing today and on another day the result would have been very different! Well done to all the players involved today! You were fantastic!

Player of the Match:

Joe - Scored a great goal and made some great chances today. More goals are sure to come with performances like this one! Well played!

2016-17 Season

Solihull FA Cup Quarter Final vs Marston Green Junior School

Won 4-1

After winning the Maypole Cup last week, Peterbrook FC were full of confidence going into their quarter final fixture against Marston Green. This was an away fixture, so we traveled to the North of Solihull to play against what we knew would be a very strong opposition.

Team: Joe, Zak, Jimmi, Raheem, Sam W, Sam C & Tom

The weather was great and everyone was ready to play. The game began and Marston Green were attacking constantly. They hit the bar and the post but couldn't break down the Peterbrook FC defense, especially with Joe in goal. We had a few counter attacks but we were defending for our lives! 15 minutes went by and still the opposition couldn't get a break through. Last ditch defending from Zak, Jimmi and Raheem was fantastic to watch! Eventually we got into the game and with 5 minutes of the first half remaining we got a break through and Sam W slotted the ball in the corner for 1-0. We kept pressing and Tom was put through by Sam C and buried another into the corner for 2-0! Within a minute Raheem put Tom through on goal again and Tom made it 3-0! After a great bit of team defending, we were winning 3-0 and the half time whistle came!

Mr H had a quiet word with the team in the shade and let them know that our defending was why we were winning and we had been battling brilliantly all over the pitch. We knew we had to keep calm and play for position on the pitch and that's how we started the second half. We started well but knew that Marston Green would come out attacking. They had a few shots and then after 5 minutes they deservedly got a scrambling goal to make it 3-1.

Peterbrook FC did not let this affect them and knew the next goal would be decisive. A cross came in from Raheem's long throw and Sam W volleyed the ball through the keepers legs to make it 4-1! Both teams were now tiring in the blistering heat and it was end to end but with no more scorers. The game finished 4-1 and Peterbrook FC march on into the Cup Semi-Finals!

Well played to everyone!

Players of the Match:

Zak & Jimmi - Defended excellently as a pair, intercepting everything that came through and set the attacking players away on some dangerous attacks.

Well played to Sam W and Tom who both scored 2 goals each!

Team: Joe, Zak, Cassius, Raheem, Sam C, Sam W, Ella & Dylan

Peterbrook FC once again entered the annual Maypole Schools Football Competition. This is a fantastic event for lots of local schools and we always enjoy the tournament. This year, 7 schools entered and were split into 2 different groups.

Our first match was against Chilcote Primary, who we lost to in the final last year. Unfortunately, the match was an exact replica of the previous fixture and Peterbrook FC had multiple chances but just could not score. With 1 minute remaining Chilcote got a corner and scored with a fantastic header into the top corner. We had been beaten 1-0.

We knew that we had to raise our game for our next two matches or we could be out. Our next game was against St Martin de Porres Primary and we were all out attacking in the game and hit the post and went close on a number of occasions. We knew we had to win and the ball got played across their penalty box and a scramble ensued with an own goal scored, which meant that Peterbrook FC were 1-0 up. The opposition hadn't given up though and their striker had a few good shots, bringing out the best in out goalkeeper, Joe, who made a world class one handed save to give us a 1-0 win!

Our final group game was against Colmore Primary and because of how the other results had gone, we knew that we needed a draw or a win to go through. The game was end to end and once again we hit the post and the opposition went on great attacks too. Both teams were very attacking and Joe made some brilliant saves to keep the game 0-0 and that's how it finished. We were through to the semi-finals by the skin of our teeth!

Our semi-final was against Billesley Primary who were a very strong side and had won all of their games so far in the tournament. The game was  battled well by both teams and both teams were enjoying spells of possession. Billesley went very close on a few occasions with Joe making great saves. They had some great little players, but with Raheem, Zak and Cassius holding strong at the back they didn't make much progress. Our players  had to work their socks off in this game, but Ella, Dylan, Sam C and Sam W did just that, keeping good possession and creating some decent chances. No team were able to break the deadlock though and it finished 0-0. This meant penalties...

Penalties can go either way and this time, luck and talent were on our side and through goals from Raheem, Zak, Sam C and Joe; and with two great saves from Joe, we were through to the final!

This was the second year in a row that we had reached the final under the dynamic management of Mr Hughes and Mr Randle and Peterbrook FC were determined to go one better and take home the trophy this year. We had got better and better throughout the tournament and it really showed in the final with an early break by Sam W who passed the ball across to Ella who made it 1-0! In the second half we kept pressing and got a corner. Sam W whipped the ball in and Raheem rose up like a salmon to head the ball into the far corner to give their keeper no chance. The game finished 2-0 and we were champions!

Every single player was exceptional today and the team thoroughly deserved their tournament victory! The day was made even more special, as the team were presented with the trophy and medals by ex-professional footballer, Dele Adebola.

Players of the tournament:

Joe S - Unbelievable goalkeeping in all games and kept us in the games with outstanding saves!

Raheem - Faultless performances within all games and did all the simple things perfectly in the centre midfield!

Peterbrook FC finish 3rd in the South Solihull football league!

All of the players involved this year have had a fantastic season and have performed admirably. We ended up in 3rd position (out of 9 schools), just behind the two larger 3 form entry schools of Shirley Heath and Monkspath.

We have been very competitive in the league and we are through to the quarter finals of the Solihull Schools FA CUP, which is a credit to the hard work that all the players have put in to our team performances.

We look forward to our next Cup game.... smiley

League Match v Dorridge

           Drew 1-1

Team: Joe, Zak, Jamie, Ella, Sam C, Sam W, Cassius, Reece & Tom

Another tough game against the team just below us in the league and Peterbrook FC knew that a win or a draw would guarantee them 3rd place in the league. We started really well and knocked the ball around playing some good passes. The football was free flowing and attacks were coming in thick and fast. We were on the attack again and the ball got cleared out of their box but only to Zak, who drilled a great shot into the far corner to make it 1-0! Fantastic strike!

After half time, Peterbrook FC continued to create chances and should have put the game to rest by scoring a couple more goals, however it just wasn't our day in front of goal. Unfortunately they had a one off counter attack and scored a rebound after a fantastic save from Joe. We kept pushing forwards and attacking but still we couldn't get the winning goal. A dominant performance that deserved the win, but the final score of 1-1 was enough to secure 3rd Place for the season!

Well played everyone and we look forward to taking our good performances into our quarter final match of the Solihull Schools Cup.

Player of the match:

Zak - Very solid at the back and topped off his performance with a great goal. Well played!

League Match v Monkspath

           Lost 4-2

Team: Joe, Zak, Jamie, Ella, Sam C, Sam W, Cassius, Reece & Tom

On our final evening of league matches, we came up against a strong Monkspath team. Peterbrook FC were against the wind and rain in the first half, but both teams were trying to play some good passing football. The wind carried the ball forward into our half a lot though and Monkspath were able to take advantage on the counter attack and scored 3 goals before half time.

The second half came and Peterbrook FC were a completely different side and played some magnificent football and were  on the attack, but yet again a counter attack let the opposition in to make it 4-0. Peterbrook FC were straight back on top and for the final 15 minutes of the game, didn't let Monkspath have a chance on the ball. Tom got the ball wide and delivered a cracking ball across for Sam C to whip a shot into the near post. We kept pressing and Sam C dribbled through and played in Ella who slotted the ball past the keeper to make it 4-2. Unfortunately time ran out, but if the game had been 5 minutes longer.... who knows what may have happened...

A fantastic second half performance.

Player of the match:

Sam C - Very confident in the middle of pitch; getting a goal and an assist. Well played!

League Match v St Alphege

           Drew 1-1

Team: Joe, Zak, Ella, Sam C, Sam W, Cassius, Dylan & Raheem

A very difficult match in some very heavy rain conditions for today's league fixture. The first half was a bit end to end with the ball skidding all over the place on a tough, slippery playing surface. Peterbrook FC did create opportunities though and with a bit more composure on the ball and if we could have picked the right pass I'm sure a few more 1 on 1 chance would have been made. Unfortunately we couldn't take any and it was 0-0 at half time.

The second half began and we pushed forward a lot more and pressed their defense high up the pitch. Peterbrook were dominant straight from kick off and tested the keeper with a few shots. The keeper saved a shot and with a long kick forward their striker was 1 on 1 with Joe and slotted the ball away for 1-0. The goal came from nowhere.

After this, Peterbrook FC were on top and creating chance after chance but the surface and the flat ball provided by the opposition were not helping. The post was struck twice along with the crossbar once and it was never ending pressure. Eventually a wonderful strike in off the crossbar from Sam C put Peterbrook FC level at 1-1. The team didn't hold back and were gaining corners and free kicks but unfortunately couldn't get a second goal.

Fair play to St Alphege for holding out with a whole team second half defensive display with all players behind the ball. We just couldn't break them down for a winning goal but on another day the score would have been very different.

Well done for a battling display and we never gave up until the final whistle.

Player of the Match:

Zak - He was calm and composed on the ball and won his individual 1 on 1 battles with the strikers.

League Match v Coppice

           Won 4-1

Team: Joe, Zak, Ella, Sam C, Sam W, Cassius, Tom & Jimmi

It was the next league game for Peterbrook FC tonight, where the players were very keen to put their previous defeat behind them as quickly as possible. A 5:00pm kick off was not ideal as it didn't allow for a proper warm up and it showed for the first few minutes where we took time to adjust to the conditions.

It was end to end for the first 5 minutes of the game with both teams attacking but not really causing any problems for the goalkeepers. Peterbrook FC began to take control of the game in the first half and had a spell of 3 or 4 corners in a row, where Ella delivered some great set pieces and our attackers had great chances. The keeper from Coppice and their defenders made some super goal line clearances to keep them in the game. The pressure was telling though, and after a few chances at goal, the ball fell to Ella who slotted the ball home for a 1-0 lead to Peterbrook!

The game became a little end to end until the whistle went for half time....

The second half began with Peterbrook looking to attack from the start. We did so with some good pressure but got caught with a counter attack, as Coppice left 3 players up front against our 2 defenders. They made the most of it and scored a super long range shot that left Joe with no chance. 1-1!

This could have been the moment that swung the game in favour of Coppice, but Peterbrook FC were not going to let their heads drop. They continued to press and Mr H was encouraging the players to play their passing game as there was so much space for our wide players. Once the team started playing this way, space was created and the chances came. Tom made a fantastic run down the left, taking on 2 players and squared the ball to Sam W, who took a touch inside the defender and cracked the ball in past the keeper to make it 2-1 to Peterbrook! The team kept pressing and Sam C was now running the game from centre midfield... He found himself with lots of time outside the area and let fly with a rocket of shot that flew into the far corner to make it 3-1!

Cassius was doing a brilliant job of holding the ball up and setting our wider players away. Jimmi and Zak were controlling the game from the back again and are really becoming a solid defensive line. Coppice rarely attacked in the second half but when they did, it was dealt with by the two defenders. They did have one more long shot, which was hit with some venom but Joe was equal to it and got down low to save it and keep hold of the ball... another great save.

Inside the last couple of minutes and Peterbrook FC were comfortable and playing some good flowing football. This was shown by Sam C, with a 'Messi' like through ball from the half way line, past 2 defenders right into the path of Tom, who didn't make any mistake and put the ball away for a final score of 4-1! A hard fought, but well deserved result! Well played!

Player of the Match:

Jimmi - Defensively solid today and he read the game brilliantly. A fantastic display! Well played!

Last 16 - Cup Match v St Anthony's

           Won 6-0

Team: Joe, Zak, Ella, Dylan, Sam C, Sam W, Cassius, Tom & Jimmi

Another game for Peterbrook FC and this time it was in the last 16 of the Solihull FA Cup. The light was good and the playing conditions were perfect, if a little cold.

The team were fully focused during the warm up and knew that they had to be on top form with the cup competition getting down to the final 16 teams. Kick off came and Peterbrook were on top and pressing high up the pitch, making it difficult for the opposition to clear their lines and the presseure was surely going to lead to a chance.... Did it? Yes, it did! A good run down the wing from Sam W and a perfect ball across for Cassius to slide in with his left foot for 1-0!

Peterbrook did not let their foot off the gas and kept pressing, with Ella and Sam C making some fantastic runs with the ball and setting up some great chances. The pressure was too great for the defence and a ball whipped in from the side was cooly slotted home with his right foot by Cassius.... 2-0! Attacks were flowing forward now and Sam W made another great run and jinked his way through the defence and buried the ball into the far corner for 3-0!

Our attacks were constant but they often started from the back with Jimi and Zak controlling the game, being composed on the ball, giving their attackers nothing and setting our forward players away on breaks. Sam C was phenomenal in the middle of the park, creating space for himself to always be an option, which helped the whole team when moving forward!

Half Time

Mr H made a couple of changes (This was difficult as everyone was fantastic in the first half). Dylan and Tom came on and knew they had to impress to keep up with the standard of the play in the first half. They did... Dylan was rock solid at the back, cleaning up and making great passes and Tom was a threat to their defence every time he got the ball.

We became a little gung ho for 5 minutes or so as everyone fancied a goal and we needed to let the ball do more of the work. This came back in though and the team were playing some amazing passing football once again with the attacks pouring on the opposition. The pressure told and the ball was fumbling around in the area and Tom got himself a well deserved goal for 4-0. We had a corner and the cross was pinpoint to the backpost, where our big centre forward (Cassius) was on hand to head the ball home past the keeper for 5-0..... The Perfect Hat Trick! Sam W got himself another goal with a cracking run through the defence and made it 6-0 with a composed finish into the bottom corner!

Our defence never switched off and were playing well.... until their captain made a fantastic run, beating a couple of defenders... He was clean through and tried an unbelievable lob that was going straight for the top corner, when out of nowhere came Joe with a flying, diving save to keep a clean sheet! What a save!

Full time...

Player of the Match:

Cassius - A brilliant centre forward display... topped off with a perfect hat trick! Fantastic! Well played!

League Match v Shirley Heath

           Lost 3-0

Team: Joe, Zak, Dylan, Raheem, Sam C, Sam W, Cassius, Tom & Jimmi

A disappointing evening for Peterbrook FC as they have been defeated for the first time this season. We didn't look as strong or as comfortable as we have been in the previous games of the season and unfortunately have been beaten. Shirley Heath had a quality goalkeeper, who kept our shots out and a defence that cleared a couple of chances from their goal line. They also had one skilful player, who we unfortunately couldn't cope with today and he scored all 3 of their goals.

We have learnt a lot from this game and we will come back stronger in the next.

We have had a great start to the season; Winning 4 games and only 1 defeat. If we keep focused and work hard, we will be ready to get back to our winning ways in the New Year!

Player of the match:

Tom: He came on at half time and made a huge difference! He was too skilful for their defence and on another day would have scored a couple of goals. Well Played!

Cup Match v Langley

           Won 4-0

Team: Joe, Zak, Ella, Raheem, Sam C, Sam W, Cassius, Tom & Jimmi

Another game for Peterbrook FC and this time it was in the Solihull FA Cup. The light was fading fast, however it didn't stop the team from turning up with yet another very impressive performance.

We were on top from the kick off and had a few chances and stopping Langley from getting into the game. We deservedly took a 1-0 lead when Sam C slotted the ball home! It was chance after chance for a while with Cassius hitting the post with a thunderous header from Ella's pinpoint cross! Langley did create a half chance getting through the defense, however Zak and Jimmi marshalled the back line and it led to nothing and Joe was comfortable in goal.

Half time.

The second half was very much like the first but with Peterbrook FC showing more intent when going forward and this paid off with some very dangerous attacking play. We tested their keeper a lot during this half and he made some fantastic saves. However, he couldn't keep us out for too long and we made it 2-0 with a great goal from Sam W. We kept the pressure going, with Sam W and Raheem making some brilliant passes up the field to Tom and Sam C and he made it 3-0 with a composed finish! Cassius also got a typical strikers goal by following in on a rebound from a good keeper save and slotted the ball in for 4-0!

If we keep playing the way we are as a team, then it will have to be a very good team that beats us this season! Well played to all!

Player of the Match:

Ella - Made some fantastic, skillful runs past many players, produced pinpoint crosses and there was no getting past her when she was defending! Well played!

League Match v Widney

           Won 4-1

Team: Joe, Zak, Ella, Dylan, Raheem, Sam C, Sam W, Cassius, Tom & Jimmi

The rain didn't get any better.... Infact it got worse, making playing conditions very tricky indeed!

Peterbrook FC were on top from the onset of this game and won all the tackles in the midfield and took control of the game, making it very difficult for the talented Widney players to get any possession. We were attacking from the start and managed to take lots of shots to test their keeper who made a few good saves.

The pressure was bound to pay off eventually and it did... Cassius once again got his head on to a cross and made it 1-0! The Widney team could not cope with Sam C in this game and he made amazing runs all game. He took the ball past a couple of players and crossed it in for Sam W to slot into the bottom corner to make it 2-0! Even Raheem put in some dangerous runs with the ball and cracked one into the top corner for 3-0. Sam C got his rewards and made another run through on goal and simply placed the ball past the keeper for 4-0 to Peterbrook! Half time!

We made lots of changes at half time and players playing in different positions. Dylan, Zak and Ella held the defence firm at the back, with Tom and Jimmi causing problems up front. Widney did manage a goal in the second half but Peterbrook FC looked comfortable with their lead and just kept the ball and made a couple of half chances in the half. The weather in the second half made it difficult to play but we held our own and the match finished 4-1!

Another great team performance in the torrential rain!

Player of the Match:

Sam C - The Widney team couldn't get close to him today and his skills were fantastic! Well played!

League Match v Langley

           Won 3-1

Team: Joe, Zak, Ella, Dylan, Raheem, Sam C, Sam W, Cassius, Tom & Jimmi

Now into our third match of the season, Peterbrook FC's confidence was high after the first two victories.

The weather was horrendous and poured down from the moment we kicked off, however that didn't stop Peterbrook from attacking from the start. We got a throw in up the top of the pitch and Raheem launched it in for Cassius to head past the keeper in slippery conditions to make it 1-0! Langley had a couple of half chances but never really tested Joe, however he was very commanding of his area and cleared up everything that came close. It was a close game going from end to end but the score remained 1-0 to Peterbrook FC at half time.

We picked up momentum in the second half and were on the front foot once again with a few good attacks and then Sam W went on a tricky run and drilled the ball into the near post to make it 2-0! We kept pressing and Tom got himself on the scoresheet with a tidy rebound finish into the bottom corner! 3-0!

We switched off a little towards the end of the game and Langley pressed high up and had a few chances but Joe was there to clean up everything and made some fantastic saves to keep them out! Langley did manage a long shot that took a wicked deflection past Joe to make it 3-1 but Peterbrook FC didn't look under any more threat and the game finished 3-1!

A fantastic team effort in the lovely rain!

Player of the Match:

Joe - He took control of his area and made some fantastic saves to keep us ahead in the game! Well played!

League Match vs Valley

Won 4-0

Team: Joe, Zak, Ella, Raheem, Sam C, Sam W, Cassius, Jimmi &Tom

Picture 1

On a cold and dark Tuesday evening, Peterbrook FC began their league fixtures with a tough opening game against Valley. The spirit of the team was strong on the back of a first round cup win and Peterbrook were up for the challenge.

It was a very tough battle throughout the first 10-15 minutes of the game with both teams closing the ball down and both teams having half chances with nothing really testing the keepers.  Valley had a very talented player in the middle of the pitch, who kept cutting in on to his stronger right foot and taking long shots towards goal. We were happy with the long shots as Joe was never really tested in goal during this time.

With 5 minutes to go in the half, Peterbrook got on top of possession and started finding more and more space. Sam W and Sam C made fantastic runs down the wings and were causing all sorts of problems for the Valley defence. The ball was played in and Cassius somehow with his back to goal managed to flick the ball over his shoulder and past the keeper into the bottom corner - A cracking finish! 1-0 to Peterbrook. We were on top now and closing down their players very quickly. Sam W and Cassius won the  ball back high up the pitch and played in Sam C who was denied by a fantastic save. He got the rebound and played it quickly to Zak, who let fly with a rocket of a shot that flew through the keepers hands and in to the back of the net! 2-0 to Peterbrook.

Half Time... Mr H had a word with the team and we discussed that we would keep pressing them and win the ball back quickly to stop their very skillful players having time on the ball.

This worked! We made changes, with Ella and Tom coming on. We won the ball back every time they got close to our goal and we were attacking from the start of the half.  Sam W was showing off his pace and skill as time and again he made it past their defence to deliver a great ball across the goal. Eventually he got his rewards as he made a fantastic run and slotted the ball past the keeper to make it 3-0! We kept breaking down their attacks, as Ella, Raheem and Sam C managed to stop everything coming down to our end and were able to frustrate their players by us always having possession of the ball. When they did manage a couple of attacks, Joe was on hand to ensure that there was no danger by having very safe hands in our goal today!

We kept pushing forward and Jimmi worked his way through a couple of tackles and smashed the ball past the keeper to make it 4-0 to Peterbrook!

All in all, a very solid performance against some very good players today. We worked well as a team and that's what earned us the victory!

Player of the Match:

Sam W : His skills and pace were too much for the opposition to handle today and he scored a fantastic goal! Well played!

Cup Match vs Fordbridge

                              Won 5-1

Team: Joe, Zak, Ella, Raheem, Sam C, Sam W, Cassius, Jake &Tom

We had our first match of the season this week in the Solihull FA Cup.

From the minute we kicked off Peterbrook were on top, creating chance after chance and deservedly took a quick 1-0 lead with a great strike from Cassius! We then switched off at the back in defense and allowed a free shot from inside the area where the Fordbridge striker hit a great shot past Joe, who couldn't do anything about it.

As it got closer to half time, Peterbrook regained their focus and pressed high up the pitch and managed to get a corner. Raheem stepped up and drilled it across the front post and got a deflection off the defender and rocketed into the goal; 2-1 to Peterbrook. We are giving the goal to Raheem as it was a fantastic ball in!

Half time. Tom came on for Cassius and Jake came on for Ella. Mr H had a quiet word with the team and encouraged them to stay focused at the back and to win the first ball in the middle of the park and chances would keep on coming.... and they sure did!

Chance after chance came because of the solid defending from both Zak and Jake! They both tidied everything up at the back, winning every tackle and playing simple but effective passes through the midfield! Sam W and Sam C were making amazing runs throughout the half and kept their keeper busy! Their keeper made some heroic saves until eventually Sam C found himself through one on one and slotted the ball past the keeper to make it 3-1.

We kept creating chances and Mr H made a couple more changes with 5 minutes to go. Both Sams came off and Ella and Cassius came back on.

Tom made some fantastic runs throughout the second half, battled well for every ball and created many chances. Peterbrook started to play some flowing football now and a sweet passing move down the right hand side got the ball to Tom who played it inside to Ella who picked out the far corner and made it 4-1.

We had chance for a final corner which Raheem floated to the back post where Ella once again was in the perfect place to 'thigh' the ball into the bottom corner! A world class finish!

All in all, an excellent start to the season! We have a great squad of players this year and we could do very well if we continue to work hard and stay focused!

Well done everyone!

Man of the match:

Raheem - Won everything in the middle of the park and made the game look very easy today! Well played!
