Persuasive Writing

This term we have had a fantastic time working for Rex Colt and Mr Peasbody to help them set up the Fun Fit Factory. This gym for children has allowed us to create a building site plan, advertising posters, look at who might work in the gym and also to create T Shirts for these members of staff.

All of our work has been linked to persuasive writing, where we have been able to persuade people to come to the gym because of all of the great things we have there. Our Big Write sessions have allowed us to persuade people to apply for jobs and to advertise all the special offers we have at the gym.

It has been great fun and here are some photos to show how we have been getting on:

Poetry

We have started our new topic of poetry and we have been reading some wonderful new poems, looking at all of the rhymes and other key features. We have been performing our own poems and this week we have even looked at some remembrance poems because of the time of the year. These poems have really opened our eyes into the lives of the soldiers and has helped us to remember those that lost their lives for us in this country.

Here we are, performing some poetry about remembrance and the importance of the poppy.

Fables

Throughout this term, we have been doing some fantastic work on both fables.

This topic has enabled the children to be extremely creative in both their writing and performing. In order to show off their writing skills, the children have been learning lots of new grammar terms to use in their sentence writing.

We have learnt to use our six main grammar terms, including nouns, adjectives, verbs, adverbs, conjuctions and fronted adverbials to create descriptive sentences.

We have also worked hard to incorporate inverted commas (speech marks) and various punctuation into our writing, which now includes paragraphs about new and exciting topics.
