 ECO COUNCIL

2010-11

Recycling and creating a better and “greener” environment for our children is perhaps one of the most topical issues for us all – and one where it can feel difficult to make much impact alone.
Here at Peterbrook we feel that by joining forces – school, parents, children and our wider community – we can really make a difference.
Peterbrook School is excited to launch a 'greener' lifestyle – one that will benefit us all, and especially our children’s future world.
We have created a school 'ECO Council' made up of 12 representatives whose role is to help our environment both in school and in the wider community.
Among the many fantastic future initiatives planned is a new recycling scheme; litter picking to keep our school grounds looking neat and tidy and having regular meetings to discuss anything else we can do to help the environment.
We are particularly excited that, in the February half-term break, we will be having an 'ECO Garden' landscaped in our school grounds. Each year group will have the opportunity to grow plants, fruits or vegetables. We'll tell you lots more about this as we get nearer the date!
We are really grateful to our school governors whom, I thank on behalf of the children, for supporting such a wonderful project that will teach our children not only valuable gardening skills, but also how to work together as a school community.
We have also created this section on our school website for you to read all about the progress we are making, and the fun we are having in making this little part of our world a better place. Why not click on the links below to read the 'Minutes' of our meetings, to see our ECO Councillors and to browse through our ECO events. Enjoy!!
We really hope that you are as excited about this project as we are, and we look forward to any suggestions you may offer that helps us make our school and community an even better place!
