Welcome:
All councillors were welcomed and the role of a school councillor was explained. LT
Suggestions:
Hannah suggested having a girl’s football team, to play competitively and friendly matches. Is it possible to have a lower KS2 team or even an infant team? LT to speak to SR.
Halloween:
Joshua and Ryan would like pumpkins from the Eco garden to decorate the hall for the disco, along with spiders and cobwebs (Lewis). Katie said she would like a puppet show for Halloween; perhaps this could take place in class? LT to speak to PTFA.
Water Fountain:
Katie and Josh asked if the school could fit a water fountain outside Year 2, so that they don’t have to use the one in the Y3/4 corridor as this is too far for them. Michael added that Year 6 would like one too! LT explained the reasons why Year 2 may be successful and Year 6 may not!
LT to speak to SMc, SMc agreed for quotes to be obtained.
Football Pitch:
Michael asked if the football pitch was going to be remarked on the grass area for matches etc. LT to ask SR.
Trees:
Katie expressed an interest in planting trees on the school site, as this would help the environment. LT informed the meeting that on Eco Day (30 Sept) we will be planting trees.
Bonfire Night:
LT reminded all councillors to attend the bonfire night and encourage others to do so.

All councillors were asked to speak to their peers to gauge opinions and bring suggestions to the next meeting in two weeks time. Everyone thanked for their contributions.

Welcome:
Feedback on previous meeting: Girls football team, SR has given LT the name of a coach who may be interested in running a girls team and a year 3/4 team, at a cost. LT will remind SR to pass on the phone number of the coach. LT will contact.
Halloween:
LT explained that the PTFA will be decorating the hall for the disco. We have purchased foam bats and cauldrons along with spiders web fabric. We have kept the largest pumpkins from the harvest festival to use as decorations, as suggested.
Water fountain:
LT explained to the council that we have carried out a site survey with the water fountain company and Mr Barton; they have established that a water fountain can not be sited by Year 2, as there is no outlet for the overflow pipe.
Football Pitch:
Has been remarked and goals erected.
Trees:
We discussed the importance of looking after the new trees that were planted on Friday.
Bonfire Night:
LT reminded all councillors to attend the bonfire night and encourage others to do so. Morgan suggested having a poster competition to advertise the bonfire night event. The school council agreed with his suggestion and want to photocopy the winning poster from KS1 and KS2 to send home with the children. LT to organise competition with staff.
Website:
Josh asked if there were many games on the school website for Reception children to play. LT asked Josh to investigate and report back to the council at the next meeting.
Pond:
Katie suggested building a pond on the school site for “nature.” The council all agreed and suggested raising money to help fund a pond by wearing pyjamas and slippers (Keely-Anne). Lewis suggested a cake sale.

Ishaan asked if it was possible to have cakes or biscuits for the Halloween disco with green icing! LT to investigate the possibility of cakes/biscuits.
Meeting closed at 9.40am.

Welcome
LT apologised for holding the meeting a day late, due to LT being absent from school yesterday.  Four members of the school council were absent.
Election of Chair, Vice-chair, secretary and treasurer
Due to the high number of absent councillors this has been postponed until our next meeting after half term.
Children In Need Day 18-11-11
We looked at the offical BBC Children In Need website for ideas.  The school council decided they would like a non uniform day-wear something spoty!
They would like a cake sale and a sponsored silence.  They would also like to deliver a whole school assembly on Friday 18th November.  During the children in need afternoon the children thought they would like to colour in pictures of pudsey.  LT to send out a letter asking for cake donations and reminding parents/carers of the non uniform day.  LT to also check the assembly rota to see if the 18-11-11 fits in or the nearest available date.
Bonfire Night
LT informed the councillors that Mr Barton has checked the outside lights to ensure they are working ready for our event.  The councillors discussed the competition to design a poster.  LT informed everyone that the PTFA would like the councillors to remind everyone about the Guy competition, so the posters could advertise this.  Everyone agreed with this.  They decided the size would be A4 and all posters need to be collected on Thursday morning ready for the councillors to judge and decide upon a winner from each class.  The winners poster will then be photocopied and sent out to each child in that class.  LT will inform staff of the poster competition and ensure they are completed by Thursday morning.

Meeting closed at 9.35am.

Election of Chair, Vice-chair, secretary and treasurer: This has been delayed again because of Children in Need day. We will come back to it at the next meeting.

Children in Need Day: Discussed the various options available to the school council. LT showed the school council the Pudsey items purchased from Lakeland, the cutters, bags and cake cases. The school council decided they would like the following to take place on 18-11-11.

  • Non uniform day, wear something spotty and pay £1
  • A cake/biscuit sale, donations and cakes/biscuits baked by children
  • The school council may bake with LT on Thursday 17-11-11
  • Play spotty bingo in classes, prizes to be confirmed
  • Colour in sheets from the pack/website
  • Guess the number of sweets in the jar

Election of Chair, Vice-chair, secretary and treasurer:
LT explained the roles of Chair person, Vice-chair, secretary and treasurer.  This was discussed by everyone and it was agreed that names for each position would be put into a hat and drawn out as this seemed to be the fairest way.  The councillors also decided that they would like to draw the names at the beginning of each term to allow as many councillors as possible to experience the duties of Chair, Vice-Chair, Secretary and Treasurer.

The following names were drawn out:

Chair Person: Ishaan
Secretary: Lexi
Treasurer: Keelyanne

We ran out of time to elect a Vice-chair, this will be done at our next meeting on Monday 12th December.
