WELCOMES & INTRODUCTIONS: Meeting began 9.10am.
Mrs Hashdi welcomed the new members and explained the purpose of School Council - to be the voice of the school and to represent the views of their classmates. Explained that this year it was going to run slightly differently to previous years - each class representative would be given a book to record minutes of class meetings in. This book is then to be brought along to School Council meetings and representatives can share the views/thoughts/worries/suggestions of their classmates. Following this, appropriate action might be taken - if deemed necessary. Mrs Hashdi suggested possible topics for discussion - worries about the day to day running/operation of the school and maybe sensible suggestions as to how to improve certain elements. Children were then given their School Council badges and had their photograph taken for the School Website. Mrs Hashdi said she would compile a table of which Fridays should be set aside for Class Council meetings and which Mondays School Council will meet. She will also insert any particular items we might need to discuss on this table.

Welcomes, Introductions and apologies (for forced cancellation of previous meetings): Meeting commenced at 9:10. Mrs Hashdi asked if any member had any issues they wanted to discuss. The main issue was presented to children - Children in need day (Friday 19th November) Mrs Hashdi discussed theme with children 'show your spots' and gave out a small poster for each Class Council rep. to display in classroom. Discussed the theme and decided that it would be appropriate for children to wear non uniform and items which were spotted in return for a minimum contribution of £1.Mrs Hashdi asked if there were any other issues for concern. Mason (4L) raised issue of Junior toilets not being ideal - broken locks, sinks etc. Mrs Hashdi to see Mr Barton about this and get back to Mason. Also issues to do with football - children want proper nets to be able to play football at playtimes - Mrs Simms commented that there were originally nets in place but these were removed due to vandalism. Mason also raised the issue of football with the Year Six boys often spoiling the games of the younger children. Mrs Hashdi to mention at the Staff meeting tonight to ensure the playground is properly 'policed'. Also look at provision of play equipment as girls disappointed not much for them to do at playtimes. Georgia raised issue that the boys would like to have the opportunity to go on the grass whenever it is dry so as they have more space. Mrs Hashdi to speak to lunchtime supervisors. Shashank raised issue of improving playground environment and more equipment for playtime. Also raised issue of having monitors to clear up litter after breaktime.

Welcomes and introductions. Mrs Hashdi discussed the subject of the forthcoming 'Children in need' day - Friday 19th November. Asked children if there was any feedback from their individual class council sessions when they announced the 'show your spots' theme. Discussed programme of events scheduled for the day - children to come dressed in non uniform in return for a minimum donation of £1 - and to wear as many spotted items of clothing as possible!Council were asked to remind their class of the show your spots cake sale scheduled for Friday - donations of cakes to be brought in to the staff room Friday morning and sold at playtime for 20p.Mrs Hashdi said that she would talk to class teachers of the children in the Juniors and ask if they might be released ten minutes early on Friday (10.20) in order to help Mr McGaw set up the cake sale. Mrs Hashdi to prepare a timetable to allow each class an allocated time slot to come to the Junior hall during the day, to show their spots! This will allow them to have their photograph taken for the website and each child to be awarded a sweet. A winner from each class will be chosen - the person in the class who has made the most effort to 'show their spots!' Leah raised point of the squash of children rushing to get cakes - reiterated by Mrs Simms. Mrs Hashdi said she would ask Mr McGaw if it might be possible to do a timetable to sell the cakes from about ten o'clock so the younger children get the opportunity to get their cakes before the Juniors come out to play at 10:30.Any other business? Mason mentioned several issues to do with playtimes - Mrs Hashdi to mention it to the peer mediators. Lauren mentioned issue of the mirrors in the girls toilets being too low for the older girls to look in!

Anna, Shashank, Ria, Leah,Jessica, Aaron, Chloe, Mason, Phoebe, Michael, Hannah,Georgia, Mrs Hashdi (Staff Link) Welcomes, introductions and Happy New Years! Began with round up of any issues in classrooms. 2H (Leah) discussed the problem of the girls having to use the infants toilets at lunchtime so asked if there would be a possibility of installing some bigger toilets in there (leave the little ones for reception) so as the toilets are more comfortable to use for the bigger children. Leah H suggested the possibility of putting hand gel in to every class in order to prevent the spread of germs - particularly whilst flu and tummy bugs are so prevelant. It was also suggested that we raise money to install CCTV cameras in order to protect school property. Hannah raised the issue of the fact that when she was a house captain she was allowed to let the older girls in at lunchtime to use the toilets by the Year Five classrooms. Mason was told opposite to this so this needs to be cleared up - which toilets can be used? PH to ask head supervisor this. Aaron raised point of older children (predominantly years five and six) running to get to dinner line and consequently hurting children along the way. Also Hannah raised point that the older children frequently take balls off the younger children when they are playing - PH to speak to Mr Russell about this. Hiba raised point that during morning playtime, infants come on to back playground (especially Reception and Year Two) and spoil Juniors games. PH to remind infants to stay on front playground. Phoebe - need bin in toilets as people keep leaving food in there - often there are sandwiches down the toilet. Also need more playtime equipment for those who don't play football. PH asked children to think about a fundraising project we could begin. Children to think about this and come up with ideas for next meeting (Monday 31st January) . meeting closed at 9:30
Welcomes and introductions. Mrs Hashdi recapped on last meeting - asked if there were any suggestions as to fund raising ideas. Asked for ideas for projects. Lauren suggested raising money for either i)stopping animal cruelty ii) cancer research iii) the air ambulance. Thought of a few ways to raise money - i.e. dressing in a particular way or doing a sponsored event. Agreed more would be raised by a sponsored event. School council to think of ideas for next meeting.Mrs Hashdi shared with school council that we need a little more money in the Sri Lankan fund money to replace the passports etc which had to be paid for last year. Suggested a non uniform day after half term. All agreed to this. Comic relief day (red nose day) March 18th - asked for ideas as to a theme (i.e. red clothes, back to front clothes etc) Leah suggested a non uniform non matching theme - i.e. a sandal on one foot and a wellie on the other. Georgia suggested the back to front clothes. For the next meeting, could you i) ask your class about ideas for a sponsored event and ii) get some ideas for comic relief day.Meeting closed at 9:30
Welcomes and introductions. Main theme to be discussed today - Red nose day - Friday 18th March. PH asked if any further suggestions for 'themes' etc - previously discussed clashing colours/back to front. Explained that we will be announcing this to the school in assembly at 9:25. Also explained about the mural to be created for reading area. PH to organise - will need help from some of the older children with going around the outline of the faces (Wednesday lunchtime Junior Hall)Also PH to do a timetable for classes to come and complete their 'face' on the mural. PH will not be teaching on Friday 18th and will ask some of the dinner ladies/PTFA members to assist with the mural. Also discussed a possible cake sale. Any other business?

PH to send letter out about purpose of event - to raise money for next years school fees for Sri Lankan children. Discussed safe sun - PH showed children the baseball caps to go on sale in school office. School Council suggested that it would be nice if more shaded areas could be provided for them to eat their lunch and sit in the shade during the lunch hours especially when they can be out in the sun for up to an hour. Suggestion was that a shaded area be built. Lauren suggested perhaps some sort of canopy to be attached to the building with picnic tables and chairs underneath. Leah suggested one for Infants and one for Juniors. Georgia suggested that picnic tables and chairs be purchased with a hole for a parasol for use in extremely hot weather. Michael suggested purchasing gazebos for erection in very hot weather. Any other business? Meeting closed at 9:30
