Welcome to our new international partner, Ulriksbergskolan from Sweden - 18 October 2010
Welcome to our friends, Ulrica, Asa, Gunilla and Mats from Vaxjo, Sweden
Today was very exciting for us all as we shared lots of information about Peterbrook with our Swedish friends. In addition our guests joined in with a Numeracy lesson and a Literacy lesson (thank you Mrs. Hashdi and Mr. Russell), toured our school, had lunch with the children, visited several classes and spent a great deal of time with our youngest children in the Nursery, Reception and PAWS Nursery. Later in the afternoon, our friends met up with other Swedish teachers for a meeting with the Mayor of Solihull and it was super to hear our guests saying how much they were enjoying their visit to Peterbrook.
Today sees the start of a special new international relationship at Peterbrook as we welcome into our school family the children, parents and teachers from Ulriksberg School, in Vaxjo, Sweden. Four teachers from Ulriksberg School (Ulriksbergskolan) are our guests for the next two days with the objective being that we learn as much as we can about eachother so that we can improve the learning opportunities for our children in both schools.
Tuesday was another busy day! This time our Swedish teachers from Ulriksbergskolan observed teaching in the Nursery and in both Reception classes. Later they also enjoyed a Year 4 ICT lesson in our ICT Room and also a Storytelling/Drama lesson in the Junior Hall. Our website and Radio Peterbrook were also explored before a final session with PAWS Nursery was enjoyed by all. The two day visit came to a productive conclusion with a future planning meeting where we discussed how we would move forward together with our respective curriculum models. This is just the start of our work together as two schools - lots of exciting teaching and learning opportunities lie before us - watch this space!!
