Peterbrook supports 'National Walk to School Week' - 17 October 2011
'National Walk to School Week'!!
This week is very special at Peterbrook and to launch it, our ECO Councillors and Miss Exon held a very special whole school assembly to celebrate the launch of 'National Walk to School Week'!!
As you can see from the powerpoint presentation and the photographs below, our pupils are very keen to support such a good idea which promotes healthy exercise and a reduction in noise and air pollution. ‘Walk to School’ is a national campaign that was launched in 1995 with a simple aim – to encourage all parents and children to make walking to school part of their daily routine. This week over 6,400 schools and 1.6 million children will be taking part.
The campaign is run by ‘Living Streets’, the national charity which stands up for pedestrians. The main aim of the week is to create safe, attractive and enjoyable streets, where people want to walk. So parents, let’s leave our polluting cars at home this week and 'walk and talk' our way to school with our children!
Let's get walking!!
