Creative Arts week 2017

We have been celebrating all things 'Africa' this week in Year 4 and we have had an amazing time doing so!

We have created some African Tribal Mask designs with the use of symmetrical patterns, used pastels and paints to create a layered African Tribal Pattern and have even taken part in an African Carnival Dance Workshop. This is not to mention the 'African' Dance Festival practise that we have been doing, alongside our class performance of 'Che Che Kule' that we will show the rest of the school on Friday! :)

As well as looking into Africa, we have learned all about the song 'Mamma Mia', have watched an amazing performance on a didgeridoo and have tested our chopping, slicing, peeling and grating skills by designing and then making our own fruit/veg faces.

We have had an amazing time in class this week and here are some photos and videos to show you what we have been up to:

Science Week 2017

We are having great fun this week becoming Scientists! We got to go to the Science Fair in the hall and look at all of the amazing inventions and research projects by other children in the school. The children from our class had fantastic projects to show and Sanskriti won 2nd Prize for her investigation of how to turn Milk into Plastic (AMAZING!)

We have also completed some super Science investigations that have used Water and Food Dye. We have done some 'Walking Water' where the different colours mixed together to make new ones, we have seen how felt tip pens travel up paper towels (against gravity) with the help of water and we have even made some glasses of coloured, layered water. We are also going to be doing some more in the week too.... smiley

Christmas Week 2016

We have had a fantastic week to end a wonderful Autumn Term here in 4H... We have been busy creating Santa, making calendars and designing our own Christmas Cards!

We have also been doing some really tricky Christmas Maths activities, where we had to plot coordinates points on a grid, follow the directions and join the dots to create amazing Christmas pictures of Rudolf, Frosty the Snowman and Jingle Bells.

On Friday we get to watch an amazing Christmassy DVD to get us in the festive spirit for our Christmas Disco in the afternoon!

I nearly forgot about the fantastic Carol Concert, where we sung very jolly Christmas songs/carols and we even played some tunes on our Brass instruments in front of a full capacity Junior Hall! It was amazing!

Here are a few pictures of us this week:

And from all of us here in 4H.... We wish you a very Merry Christmas!

Children in Need 2016

We have had a fantastic week of raising money for an amazing charity! We have watched some heart-warming video clips that have shown us just why we raise money at this time of year.

To raise as much money as we could we have taken part in the following things:

  • We have completed a fitness circuit in the fastest times that we could.
  • We have dressed up in some amazing 'silly' and 'creative' clothing.
  • We have had a cake sale, where lots of the school came round and bought our lovely cakes.
  • We have soaked Mr Hughes with water sponges.

We have had a great time doing all of these activities, but we really do know why we raise money for children that are much less fortunate than ourselves. We have all worked so hard to raise money and the total amount that we have raised is.......

£147.50

(This was the most raised of all of the classes - What an amazing amount of money for charity! Well done 4H!)

smiley

We've had a fantastic time learning to play our brass instruments over the past few weeks. Mr Jones and Mr Sharpe have been great and have taught us how to play and read music.

Here are a few photos and videos of how we are getting on so far.... (We have only had 4 lessons)
