# 2H

Thursday 21st June

Today we started our brand new music scheme of work 'charanga'. We looked at some reggae style of music and we looked at the tempo, pulse, Then we learned a song called the aadvark and we used the maraccas we had made during the week to accompany our singing.

Monday 12th June

Today we have started a brand new unit in English. We are looking at journey stories. To begin with we looked at one of our favourite stories 'we're going on a bear hunt'. Working with a partner, we acted out all the different stages of the journey from home to the cave and back again. We had great fun deciding on actions to go with each different part of the journey and then to finish the lesson we all acted it out together back in the classroom. Can you work out which part of the story we are acting out in our pictures?

Thursday 16th March

A very exciting day for us all as we got to showcase all our wonderful science experiments which we had undertaken at home. There was a whole host of exciting science going on from exploding volcanoes to Brian's super sonic rocket launch! Here are the highlights!

Friday 10th March

Today 2H did their Real Maths experience just like the rest of the school did on Tuesday. We were very fortunate that Mrs Soonsara came to speak to us about how she uses maths in her job (she is an optician). She showed us how she has to calculate what strength lenses people need and showed us some lenses of different strengths. After this she worked with us on our reasoning problems. We really enjoyed having her in the classroom and working with us!

Thursday 2nd March

It is World book day today and to celebrate Class 2H have come dressed as their favourite characters from books! There are Horrid Henrys, Alice in Wonderland, Willy Wonka and a whole host of other characters! See if you can identify which book they are from!

Wednesday 25th January

In our English lessons we have been studying the story of King Lear! Today we had the opportunity to act out certain scenes from it. Can you guess which part of the story we are acting out?!

Our science topic this term is all about materials. We were set the challenge of having to describe the properties of a range of materials and the rest of the group had to guess which material we were talking about! We have also learned about the difference between natural and manmade materials!

Monday 7th November - Scootability!!

We had great fun on Monday afternoon as we got to bring our scooters in to school and learn about  how to ride them safely on the pavement. We practised going in and out of cones and also what to do if we meet a pedestrian whilst we are riding them. Take a look at us in action!

Friday 4th November

Today in our ICT lesson we have looked at how digital images can be changed. We discussed how important it is to be careful about what images and information we share with people on line. We used photobooth on the Ipads to change images of our faces - just for fun. Can you tell who is who?!

Thursday 13th October

Today we looked at the story of Edward Jenner and learned about how he found a vaccine against small pox. We got into small groups to act out the story!

Wednesday 12th October

We have been looking at fractions. We have learned that fractions are equal parts of a whole. We used a strip of paper with a paper clip to try and decide where half way was. The strip was 20cm long. Where do you think half way should be?

Today we have been doing some work from our new PSHE  programme - Jigsaw the mindful approach to PSHE. We had to get in to groups and find all the other children who had the same number as us. This demonstrated that we are just one piece of the whole school jigsaw and each one of us is a piece of our class jigsaw. We then passed around Jigsaw Jo and talked about what she might be worried about in Year Two.
